I recently updated Thunderbird to Nebula v139.0 and now my "Recent Destinations" list is not saving all my folders in its list after moving / copying emails to the destination folder I selected. It seems that the "Recent Destinations" list is only saving (or maybe just displaying) folders with names beginning with "A" - "N". If I move an email to a folder with its name beginning with "O" - "Z", the email will be moved to the appropriate / selected folder, but the folder (destination) name will NOT appear in the "Recent Destinations" list.

Yesterday and today has just been a nightmare. But I'm slowly getting things back up and connected after Hostway absorbed my hosting company (HostMySite) and migrated everything to their servers, but forgetting to send me the new login info until after they had terminated my old e-mail servers. And then it just got worse.

I am using Thunderbird 102.15.1 64-bit on a M1 mac. Do not tell me to upgrade. I did, once, and revised search functionality literally had me spending 3 days to manually revert my entire database back to work with 102.15.1. New version - bad. No.

The thing I need help with is that, as I reconnect my e-mails to Hostway's servers, I can get e-mails, but the collected Inbox does not show anything new. When I select a specific account within the collected Inbox, it'll have 10 new e-mails, but the collected Inbox- nothing new.

Same with all the collected folders, Drafts, Sent, Junk, trash, etc.

How doI get the collected folders to work again?

yes, so the title gives the question.

when I start the thunderbird app on windows 10 laptop it starts to fetch 2000+ emails from google. Everytime even after letting it go through the process.

Its super slow and always reports its stuck at 2 out of 2000+ emails. Very strange.

I have let it run for 24 hours+ on one occation to get everything loaded. The loading status bar disappeared but it restarts everytime I open the app again.

Any idea why?

Best regards,

Thunderbird 139: Reply composer uses black text on black background with dark theme

Hello,

Since updating to Thunderbird 139, I’ve encountered a persistent issue with the dark theme in the reply composer. When replying to HTML messages, the text appears black on a dark background, making it nearly unreadable.

This issue did not occur in Thunderbird 138 — nothing else changed on my system except the automatic update.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

- Verified that toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is set to true in about:config.

- Created and edited a userContent.css file inside the active profile folder.

- Used various CSS rules targeting messengercompose.xhtml to override text and background colors (e.g. forcing color: #ddd and background-color: #000).

-Tried resetting composition preferences like msgcompose.background_color and msgcompose.text_color in prefs.js.

- Set Thunderbird to use plain text composition, which works — but this is only a temporary workaround.

- Ensured that no conflicting extensions (e.g. DeepDark) are enabled.

-Confirmed the issue happens even with a clean profile. - Manually set the default text and background colors to white on black in the composition settings — but replies still render with black text on black background.

The problem seems to be that Thunderbird 139 overrides the user-defined dark theme or does not apply CSS properly in replies.

Is this a known regression? Is there any workaround to enforce dark-compatible colors in HTML reply composition without switching to plain text?

Thanks for your help.

Hoping that someone can get me pointed in the right direction to sort out a problem I'm having.

I've been using Thunderbird successfully for a number of years on a few different PCs to access my email account. It worked just fine years ago with AT&T and more recently Frontier email servers. Several months ago Frontier discontinued their email service. But I had a "Free Email For Life" account which they automatically switched over to a Yahoo Email account which allowed me to continue using my long standing "@Frontier.com" address. The change over went pretty smoothly and Thunderbird was still working as expected. Until it didn't.

In the last month or two Thunderbird in two Windows machines will not connect to my Yahoo email account. I continually get messages indicating a "time out" issue when attempting to connect. But I can still access my email by logging directly into my Yahoo webmail account.

The two main Thunderbird installations, one on a Win 10 laptop and another on a Win 7 Pro desktop are the main problem areas with time-outs and no connection established. Oddly enough Thunderbird for Android seems to work just fine on my phone.

The only free tech help that Yahoo would provide was essentially to check my SMTP server settings, which I did again for probably the fourth or fifth time. I also changed my password which was a couple years old . . . just in case. But I'm still spinning my wheels.

Hopefully someone else has had a similar experience and can tell me what I may have overlooked. I don't want to switch to Gmail or any other server if I can avoid it. Yahoo offers their own 3rd party app but it seems a bit futzier and more invasive than Thunderbird. Somebody please point me in the right direction of where to dig in next.

I'm using Thunderbird version 128.11.0esr on my Windows 11 desktop computer.

I have many email accounts in Thunderbird and Thunderbird automatically forwards email from some of the accounts.

Occasionally I will see an error message: "Send Message Error. Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Error sending message for delivery... Please check the message and try again."

Can I trace this error back to determine which email account is causing the error?

Thank you.

First when I try to write an email I put the op name in the To: box but the contact list from my address book I imorted from my new outlook(I do not have 365)does not work -there is nothing. I need the simplest way to synchronize the address book with the To: when I send an email. 2 I'm confused about export and import. I always thought I import from something and then I export to something but it seems that Thunderbird commingles the two terms. I was trying to import from my outlook new to Thunderbird. Is it a matter of language or understanding? Thunderbird seems to work except for the above mentioned feature. Please explain? 5-29-25
